Mark of origin
Falkland Islanders are proud of their beautiful home and the exceptional quality of goods produced
in the Islands. Wool, meat, fish and handicrafts are among the many items produced in
this stunning archipelago.
To identify home-grown goods, we use the Falkland Islands Mark of Origin.
It shows the leaves of our native tussac grass waving freely in the South Atlantic wind.
The breezes that sweep across the tussac leaves as they grow on our coastlines bring a fresh,
unpolluted air to everything that grows here. Meat and fish have a vital, wholesome flavour.
Soft, warm wool is grown without chemicals on isolated farmsteads, and rich, sweet jams are made
from wild local berries known as diddle-dee – and they all bear the Falkland Islands Mark of Origin.
Just like the tussac grass, products bearing the Mark of Origin embody the spirit of
the Falklands – pristine, natural and completely unspoilt.
